The residence of Mr. Harry Pickett on Poplar street was the scene of some very mysterious movements last evening. Neighbors rushed pale, and trembling from their homes and in meeting each other told of the sepulchral tones which eminated from the chiminey top of the Hardware man's residence. Wierd chants appeared to come from the cellar walls and there seemed to be faint lights at different places which indicated the presence of old time goblins. Entrance to the house fully confirmed the most romantic suspicions, for there were to be seen Ghosts in full array of fairy costume.
Characters who had evidently made uses of sheets and pillow cases were Setting cautiously about, conversing in tonges, which to the uninitiated, caused a spinal irritation that was anything but pleasant. A genuine skeleton is said to have had its face turned toward the wall, and its dictation furnished the guide for the evenings entertainment.
It was a genuine "spook" party and was an event which furnished an abundance of amusement for a party of about 20 friends of Mr. and Mrs. Piekett. Refreshments were served during the evening and at a time when spooks are compeled to fade away, the party broke up, feeling that they had been richly entertained by a novelty, which would convey more pleasing sensations, when witnessed in waking than in dreaming.
